Skipa Heathen Ventures is nestled in the beautiful mountain community of Tehachapi, which is located between Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California. (Map)

We have been breeding, raising and showing Paint horses since 1990. Ken is a retired Postmaster who now devotes all of his time to the horses. Brenda is a Registered Nurse with the State of California and has been involved with horses in some form or another most of her life.

While having dinner with the Barton's in '92, Ray said that we should see this special 2-year old stallion, Skipa Heathen. We looked at the 2-year old and could readily see the potential.

In January '93, together with Ray and Jan Barton we had the opportunity to purchase Skipa Heathen.

Ray fit and showed Skip in '93 to his Superior in Halter. Also, in '93 Skip was the APHA 3-year old World Champion Halter Stallion.

Skip finished 3rd in Senior Western Pleasure at the '96 World Championship Show with Karen Qualls. He also completed his Superiors in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure.

Foal crops began arriving; it was evident that Skip was influencing consistency in his foals with their Halter and Performance abilities. Skip had proven that he is a true sire.

In '00 we had the opportunity to assume complete ownership of "a once in a lifetime horse", Skipa Heathen.

We realize how special this opportunity has been for us to be associated with such an incredibly talented individual and his get.

Our goals are to continuously strive toward providing the best service and product in the industry to you, and to always strive toward "Breeding for Excellence in Halter and Performance!"
